Our Planning Priorities

The MPA has polled committee members, consulted local groups and held local discussions. In full, we have leafleted 3,000 households and businesses.

After these consultations we found the priorities to be:

• Housing – particularly properly affordable housing
• Managing increased gentrification
• Air pollution
• Traffic management/intrusion/control – parking, bicycles, street furniture
• Resolving conflict between increased commercial development and existing residential needs
• Encouraging better development and setting bench-mark standards for our area
• Setting standards for urban re-development, including aesthetic and sympathetic design criteria
• Encouraging the excellent primary schools and supporting the cause of a Secondary School south of the Euston Road
• Retaining and enhancing local green spaces and increasing green spaces where possible – and insisting that new developments have green roofs and green walls
• Retaining our Conservation Areas and increasing them where possible – including refinements of conservation rules in reference to roof-line, basement depth and sub-division of living space
• Retaining and supporting local pubs
• Retaining and supporting local businesses (including independent retailers), workshops and studios. Encouraging local employment provision
