  This popular local pub was sold by Punch Inns to a developer.The local landlords’ lease was not renewed and the pub abruptly closed.   This site has been bought by Whitbread, who propose to build a Premier Inn and retail outlet on the site. MPA and local residents objected to this proposal on the grounds of the inharmonious appearance of the new building, the potential noise and traffic nuisance to local residents, and the lack of housing provision.
